Financial Assistance Fund

Financial assistance is offered to qualified candidates, as HHF resources allow, to help with major/emergency veterinary care or behavior modification for pets in danger of losing their homes. Candidates must provide proof of financial need in the form of documentation verifying one of the following types of public assistance: Social Security, Medicaid/Medicare, Housing Assistance. Applications will not be considered unless accompanied by this documentation.

PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST CONTACT HARLEY'S HOPE FOUNDATION PRIOR TO VETERINARY SERVICES BEING ADMINISTERED. WE WILL NOT REIMBURSE EXPENSES ALREADY PAID OUT.

We will not provide funding for the following situations:

Complications due to pregnancy or birth. With millions of animals euthanized each year due to lack of homes, we do not encourage allowing pets to breed. Low cost spay/neuter programs are available in most communities in the state (see our Pet Care Resource Manual for listings).

Illness/injury to animals you just adopted. Adopting an animal knowing you cannot provide veterinary care is irresponsible. Our mission is to assist people who have had their pets for some time, have cared for them, but are dealing with challenges/changes that have made it difficult to deal with a veterinary emergency.

Routine care such as spay/neuter, vaccinations, allergies. Our funding is limited and is dedicated to assisting with serious cases that may cost the animal his/her home.

If you do not meet our funding criteria, please visit our
Pet Care Resources Manual for additional options
(link available at the bottom of the home page).

Resource Referrals:

In order to assist pets and their people who may not qualify for Harley's Hope Foundation assistance, or who seek information on other animal-related services and care, a clearinghouse of information will be maintained on the Harley's Hope Foundation website, www.harleys-hopefoundation.org. Check out the Provider Resources Report for more information.

Educational Information:

Recognizing that prevention of certain veterinary conditions is possible, our goals include educating the public regarding responsible pet guardianship. This portion of the website includes data on the importance of regular veterinary exams, preventive care, common household hazards and toxins, and information on breed-specific maladies.
